Creating Monuments from Scale Models and Large Stone Sculptures
- creating monuments from a scale model and producing monumental stone sculptures is one of the key areas of work in our workshop. Thanks to long-standing experience, advanced machinery and a highly skilled team, we are able to execute even the most demanding forms in stone – from smaller art pieces to large-scale sculptures intended for public and private spaces. Many sculptors, despite their artistic talent and strong creative vision, do not have the technical conditions required for the realisation of large stone sculptures. That is why they often commission our workshop, where the process of creating a monument from a scale model follows clearly defined phases. The artist first creates a small model, and we then use that model to carve the final stone sculpture in the desired, often monumental dimensions. Such projects are frequently created for squares, streets, courtyards of institutions, public parks or cultural spaces, but we equally produce works for private gardens, residential properties and personal art collections. Numerous renowned artists have entrusted us with the execution of their works – among them Šime Vulas, academic sculptor and one of the most important Croatian modernists; Dalibor Stošić, academic sculptor known for complex figurative forms; Matko Mijić, academic sculptor and professor recognised for his strong sculptural expression; Kuzma Kovačić, academic and one of the most respected contemporary Croatian sculptors; Ana Elizabet, a sculptor with a distinctive artistic sensibility; and Slavomir Drinković, academic sculptor whose works carry strong symbolic qualities. Their concepts are often technically complex, sometimes even at the limits of what seems possible, yet our workshop is fully equipped with the knowledge and capabilities to meet all challenges. From the precise transfer of the model into a large stone volume, through detailed hand finishing, to the final installation in situ – every phase is executed with deep understanding of the material and the artist’s intention. Whether it is the creation of a monument from a scale model, a monumental sculpture for a public space, or an artwork intended for a private client, our goal remains the same: to faithfully translate the author’s idea and create a lasting artwork that will preserve its character for generations.
