Tomb for the Jutronić Kršćan Family
- the Jakšić Stonemasonry Workshop proudly presents the tomb for the Jutronić Kršćan family, a work that unites classical tradition and monumental design with exceptional sculptural artistry. Located on the island of Brač, this elegant and distinguished tomb is crafted from white Brač stone – a material that has long symbolised permanence, dignity, and purity. At the centre of the composition stands a sculpture of an angel, the work of academic sculptor Lovre Jakšić. The figure is rendered with a remarkable sense of proportion, movement, and spirituality. With wings outstretched, the angel creates a powerful visual presence. One wing extends gently over the headstone, forming a symbolic link between heaven and earth. With one hand, the angel raises a finger toward the sky – a gesture of faith, transcendence, and divine light. The execution of this figure required extraordinary craftsmanship. Every feather, every curve of the body, and every facial detail was shaped with care and precision in the spirit of classical sculpture. The combination of relief and full volume gives the angel a sense of lightness and life, despite being carved from solid stone. The design is further enhanced by a stone balustrade surrounding the entire tomb. Such details were once common in memorials of prominent families and have here been reinterpreted in a refined, contemporary way. The horizontal lines of the structure balance the vertical presence of the sculpture, creating a harmonious composition. The Jutronić Kršćan family tomb embodies everything that defines Jakšić Stonemasonry Workshop – the union of tradition, artistic expression, and reverence for material. White Brač stone, transformed by the sculptor’s hand, becomes a timeless symbol of spirituality, remembrance, and love.
