Family Mladinić Tomb
- this monolithic tomb made of white Brač stone stands out with its strong foundation and refined simplicity. Unlike most tombs with polished surfaces, this one features a finely bush-hammered finish, which gives a soft, matte appearance and emphasises the natural texture of the stone. Large compact stone blocks form the base of the structure, symbolising strength and permanence – values deeply embedded in the design and material itself. The design balances curved and straight lines, achieving harmony between monumentality and restraint. Every detail reveals masterful stone craftsmanship, creating a sense of calm and timeless dignity. At the heart of the composition stands the stone sculpture of Saint Nicholas, created by our academic sculptor Lovre Jakšić. The figure raises two fingers, symbolically calming the sea, while in his other hand he holds three stone spheres– a reference to the well-known legend of Saint Nicholas and the three gold coins, a symbol of generosity and protection. The sculpture introduces a powerful spiritual dimension, making this tomb a unique fusion of artistic expression and traditional stonemasonry. A turned stone vase on the front part complements the geometry of the tomb, reinforcing the unity of design. From the monumental stone slabs to the precise details, every element reflects respect for material and craftsmanship. The Family Mladinić Tomb is a perfect example of a modern approach to tomb design, where Brač stone traditionmeets contemporary artistic interpretation, resulting in a monument of serenity, dignity, and enduring beauty.
