Tomb for the Rošin Family
- this tomb in Milna is a remarkable example of collaboration between architect Jerko Rošin and the Jakšić stonemasonry workshop, where architectural precision meets refined craftsmanship and artistic sensibility. The design combines the simplicity of modern form with the timeless strength of traditional white Brač stone. The central element of the composition is the gently curved tombstone, whose soft contour introduces fluidity into the otherwise geometric structure. This subtle wave of stone creates a sense of rhythm and balance, while the play of light across the surface enhances the purity and warmth of the material. A striking feature of this modern tomb is the stainless-steel cross, whose polished surface contrasts beautifully with the matte texture of the stone. The cross is positioned before a semicircular stone element, creating visual depth and stability. This combination of stone and metal symbolically reflects the connection between permanence and light, earth and sky. In the lower section, built-in vases form another distinctive detail. Here, the flowers seem to emerge directly from the stone, creating an organic unity between architecture and nature. This refined solution adds a feeling of harmony and serenity to the overall composition. Through its clean lines, precise proportions, and thoughtful material balance, the Rošin Family Tomb conveys modern elegance and spiritual symbolism. Every element – from the shape of the stone to the cross and integrated vases – contributes to a composition that embodies peace, dignity, and eternity.
