In the spacious setting of our stone workshop, a unique and striking exhibition of stone sculptures by Dr. Art. Dina Jakšić Pavasović, titled “De-construction of Stone Form,” was held. By exhibiting her work in this industrial environment, Dina wished to highlight the very process of creation and her deep connection to the family tradition of stone craftsmanship.
Although she is formally a painter, it is difficult not to work with stone—the material that surrounds her daily and has shaped generations of her family. Through the exhibition title, she pointed directly to the method behind her sculptures: Dina first cuts the stone into thin slabs, then reassembles them using adhesive infused with pigments, creating colourful lines running through the block. She then intervenes again, carving, shaping, and forming the stone while following the rhythm of these newly created lines. In this cyclic process of deconstruction and reconstruction, the artwork is born.
All the stone sculptures displayed in the exhibition were created in collaboration with our workshop, further merging artistic expression with traditional craftsmanship. The workshop space transformed into an unexpected gallery atmosphere: darkness contrasted with focused lighting that illuminated each sculpture, while specially selected music enhanced the ambience.
The exhibition attracted a large number of visitors and offered a completely new perspective on the space where stone is shaped every day. “De-construction of Stone Form” proved to be an exceptional artistic event that revealed a new dimension of our workshop.
