Exhibition "Jewelry" by Ida Stipčić Jakšić

Grand Opening of the “Jewellery” Exhibition by Ida Stipčić Jakšić at the Mimara Museum

On Friday, 27 November 2015, the prestigious Mimara Museum hosted the grand opening of the exhibition “Jewellery” by our designer Ida Stipčić Jakšić. The event attracted a large audience of art and design enthusiasts, and the central focus of the exhibition was handcrafted semi-precious stone jewellery, created within the artistic and technically skilled environment of the Jakšić workshop.

The designer presented around 80 unique pieces of jewellery, made from semi-precious stones she cuts, shapes, and polishes entirely by hand, combined with silver elements. The stones Ida uses are characterised by unique, irregular and naturally individual forms, which require careful manual cutting and hand–polishing, making each piece absolutely one-of-a-kind. This demanding process is a defining element of her artistic approach.

Organised in collaboration with Dr. Arijana Kopričina, the Mimara Museum offered visitors a fascinating insight into a wide range of semi-precious stones such as lapis lazuli, rhodochrosite, jade, various types of coral, and many other fine minerals. Every piece carries the distinctive aesthetic of the Jakšić Gallery, reflecting the harmony between traditional stone craftsmanship and contemporary design.

The opening drew numerous notable figures from the Croatian cultural and public scene, including the iconic singer Josipa Lisac, actress Anja Šovagović, actor Dragan Despot, composer Nenad Bach, former Minister of Culture Božo Biškupić, and many others. The exhibition was officially opened by the Assistant Minister of Culture, Vesna Jurić Bulatović, who praised the originality and artistic value of Ida’s work.

For more than ten years, Ida Stipčić Jakšić has been creating unique jewellery pieces, which she regularly exhibits at the Jakšić Gallery on the island of Brač and in the gallery in Split. As one of the few Croatian designers who independently shapes and polishes semi-precious stones, she draws upon the expertise and long-standing tradition of the Jakšić family workshop.

The exhibition “Jewellery” remains open until 3 January 2016, offering an important contribution to the promotion of artistic jewellery and the craft of semi-precious stone design in Croatia.
