Interior renovation of the Church of the Annunciation in Milna on the island of Brač

- the renovation of the Church of the Annunciation in Milna, a sacral building dating back to the 18th century, was a great honour for our workshop. The church has undergone several phases of construction, with contributions from renowned masters such as Ignacije Macanović from Trogir, Trifun Bokanić and Ivan Rendić throughout different historical periods. Being part of this architectural lineage and continuing the tradition of stonemasonry was a true privilege for us. Our workshop led the reconstruction in the 1990s, which included the complete stone flooring and stone staircase inside the church. The floor design was developed by sculptor Dijana Rošin, while our team carried out the production and installation. All works were executed in full respect of the church’s existing ambiance, with careful selection of forms and materials in harmony with the original architecture. The altar, ambo and baptismal font were both designed and crafted by our workshop under the leadership of Dražen Jakšić. The altar rests on cylindrical red Rosso Verona marble columns, with a polished white marble top. The ambo follows the same stylistic logic, positioned on a single red marble column with a square white marble top. The baptismal font is set on a red marble column as well, with a round white marble bowl above. Particularly notable is the stone floor, which combines several types of marble, with emphasis on Rosso Verona and Carrara. In front of the altar, the Croatian coat of arms is set in stone, accompanied by the year of completion – 1992. This sacral interior is a fine example of how high-quality stonework and thoughtful design can restore and enrich the spiritual value of a historic church.
