Stone Facade on a Villa in Sutivan / Architect Sanja Koren Veljačić
- a stone facade is more than just a protective layer – it is a statement of style, durability, and refined living. Especially when crafted from white Brač stone for facades, whose natural brightness and texture bring timeless elegance and sophistication to contemporary architecture. A prime example of this is the modern villa in Sutivan, designed by architect Sanja Koren Veljačić. The villa stands out for its unique grooved stone facade, an original product of our workshop. The stone surface features lines carved in such a way that a gentle ridge and recess are formed, giving it a distinctive relief and tactile depth. The process itself is intentionally coarser, creating a surface with a natural, handcrafted texture that comes alive through the play of light and shadow. Under strong sunlight, depending on the angle of the rays, the lines appear more pronounced and defined, while at dawn or dusk they almost disappear – the facade changes throughout the day, reflecting the rhythm of light and time. Our workshop is renowned for its exceptional precision in stone joint work, crucial for achieving the seamless continuation of lines across the entire facade. Every joint is perfectly aligned, forming a harmonious, unified composition. This precision is especially evident at the villa’s corners, where the stone plates meet flawlessly, creating a sculptural sense of perfection. Such craftsmanship earned us an award for excellence in modern stone facade design. In addition to the stone facade, our team executed all other stonemasonry works throughout the villa – from stone staircases and interior details to exterior surfaces that connect the architecture with its Mediterranean surroundings. Thanks to the white Brač stone for facades, the villa in Sutivan gained a distinctive identity and significantly increased in value. This project demonstrates how tradition and modern design can coexist in perfect balance, creating architecture that truly breathes with its environment.
