Our workshop has just completed another impressive artistic project – two monumental stone sculptures of Caryatids, created as elegant supporting columns for the canopy and entrance to the pool area of a luxury private villa. These stone sculptures combine classical inspiration with a contemporary interpretation and are the result of months of precise and dedicated work by academic sculptor Lovre Jakšić, whose distinctive artistic signature is visible in the softness of the lines and the strong sense of movement.
Caryatids, known since ancient Greece, symbolise elegance, strength, and refined feminine beauty. In contemporary architecture they serve as sculptural elements that enrich the space both visually and symbolically. Our new Caryatids, standing 2.26 metres high, are among the largest works realised by our sculptor.
Lovre Jakšić, well known for his ability to give stone an organic quality and a sense of flow, shaped figures that radiate vertical elegance, harmony, and expressive sculptural dynamism. They are carved from white Brač stone “Veselje Fiorito”, prized for its consistency, durability, and capacity for highly precise workmanship. The sculptures combine finely polished surfaces with strongly textured, hand-carved segments, creating a striking contrast that emphasises the character of each figure.
Placed as a pair, the Caryatids will define the entire courtyard of the villa – giving the space a distinctive identity and an artistic atmosphere from the very first step into the exterior.
