New Tomb in Podgora – Contemporary Design Inspired by the Sea Wave

The new tomb created in the Jakšić Stone Workshop is another example of the quality, design, and craftsmanship that define our work in the creation of tombs and headstones. Located in Podgora, this tomb immediately stands out for its unique aesthetics, combining modern form with traditional values of stone craftsmanship. It is particularly interesting for its contemporary interpretation of a classic theme in memorial design — the sea wave — shaped here in a discreet, minimalist manner.

Crafted from white Brač stone, a material synonymous with durability, elegance, and authenticity, the tomb features a sculpted wave rising gently from the composition. This element carries rich symbolism: peace, eternity, and the deep connection to the sea that characterises Podgora and the Dalmatian coastline.

The entire process — from the initial idea, sketch, and model, to final production and installation — was completed entirely in our Jakšić workshop. Every part of the tomb was shaped by hand, with great attention given to proportions, soft transitions, and a flawless surface finish. The result is a dignified and contemporary memorial piece that radiates serenity and refinement.

This project in Podgora confirms once again that tombs can be more than traditional memorial markers. They can become lasting symbols of identity, emotion, and the personal story of the family who commissions them. The Jakšić Stone Workshop continues to create headstones that unite tradition with modern design, offering long-lasting, high-quality, and aesthetically refined solutions.
