Washbasin made of stone

Stone Washbasin Inspired by the Shape of a Flower Petal

One of the latest works from our Jakšić workshop once again demonstrates the wide possibilities of stone craftsmanship, especially when it comes to creating a stone washbasin, a unique piece of stone furniture. This entirely hand-crafted washbasin features an exceptionally complex form inspired by the delicate shape of a flower petal. The idea was to translate the softness and natural flow of a petal into stone — a material known for its solidity — creating a harmonious contrast that makes this piece both artistic and technically challenging.

As shown in the images, each curve and surface has been shaped and refined by hand, resulting in fluid, organic lines that imitate natural forms. Every contour is carved and sanded manually, making this stone washbasin not only a functional object but also a sculptural element within the interior.

This washbasin is part of a small series based on the same design inspiration, with each piece being entirely unique. So far, three washbasins have been produced: one has found its place in a private villa in Vienna, another in an exclusive villa in Split, and the third is permanently displayed in our Jakšić Gallery. These examples confirm the growing demand for high-quality stone furniture among admirers of natural materials, luxury craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Through the combination of modern aesthetics, artistic expression and traditional stonemasonry skills, our workshop continues to create pieces that exceed expectations. This stone washbasin is proof that stone can be both strong and gentle, functional yet sculptural — a perfect example of a bespoke design item for sophisticated interiors.
